How we work
Step 1
Before we look at who how your website works, and how it will look, we need to know how your organisation works. At this point, we map out your organisation’s customers or visitors. We call these personas, which are effectively stereotypes designed to broadly cover the types of people who you need to appeal to and the types of activities your website, app or other digital presence needs to cover. In order to make decisions about features, design or strategy in the future we can come back to your organisation’s personas and let your users decide.
Step 2
Now that we’ve explored who your users are, for website we’ll look at the structure and the sort of content we need to create. For an app or digital presence more generally, we’ll explore how different people will use the functionality or content you want to offer. Armed with post-it notes and plenty of patience, we can the map out an information architecture, storyboard or user flow we think works, making sure we use the language your customers, visitors or members may use rather than the words we may use as industry insiders.
Step 3
Only when we feel understand your organisation and the people you’re aiming to appear to, do we begin to look at design. Using your existing brand and brand guidelines, or working with you to create new branding, we’ll use up-to-date knowledge best of practice in web and digital to create websites, apps, social media branding and so on to work across the widest range of different devices, browsers and on. It’s important to us that you’re easily found searching with the right terms. or on the right user journeys and that user experience drives our design and development.
Step 4
We don’t believe in a one-hit, fire and forget approach to your website, app or your digital presence as a whole. The digital world around it is constantly shifting. In fact, we recommend you make small iterative changes working to get the features and improvements you need most live on the web first. For us, a launch may be simply getting a single web page online with your address or a blog so that search engines can start to find you while we work on developing an online shop, for instance. Ongoing, we can help you with multimedia from video editing to create great marketing videos to banners and images to share on social media. We can help guide your content strategy, target search engines more effectively based on robust analytics, develop your branding further, improve functionality through testing and focus on getting the users you want to attract.
